The Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment, Abubakar Fikpo, has urged undergraduates to get busy by acquiring skills that would make them self-reliant, especially as the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities lingers.
Our correspondent reports that the nationwide strike was since declared on Monday, February 14, 2022, at the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
Fikpo made this disclosure in Gombe, during a media assessment tour to track some beneficiaries of the organisation’s programmes in the state.
Fikpo said NDE which was a 1986 establishment of Federal Government was not only poised to empowering only graduates but counselling undergraduates to get required skills.
Represented by Information Officer NDE press unit Abuja, Rita Inyang, Fikpo, during the tour lauded its four major programmes which include; Vocational Skill Department, Small Scale Enterprise, Rural Employment Promotion and Special Public Works, adding that thousands of youths in the state have been alleviated from poverty.
