POEM: The Land Of Pain

Published

on

By Ibrahim Oladimeji

I heard!
I heard the voices of our people
shouting and screaming of hunger
tired of living a wretches lives
Using everyday staking their lives to survive

I saw it!
fairness in our mothers and fathers eyes
tears in the eyes of young and adults
boredom and forlorn
that has led citizens to commit a suicide

I felt it!
the same pains the citizens were going through
the kind of life they were living in
with poverty and suffering
that make almost to meets their demise

Now!
our blessed land has turned to thorns
that prick the feet of her people
and using their blood
to quenched her own thirsty

our motherland is now a land of pain
that hurts like a hell
burning our bodies to ashes
and buried us with unmarked graves

My fatherland has turned into a place
where I could no longer find a peace
It has now turned to a wall
that I can’t even see my shadow
